Parking of the Valais Hospital in Sion, Switzerland
Short description
The project, developed by the award-winning architects in 2017 - 2018, was implemented by the general contractor Implenia. Thanks to the crossbeam system, consisting of a slab resting on three free supports, it was possible to increase the traffic and parking areas.
The project
The load-bearing elements are located along the north façade, in the middle of the parking lot between the two central parking rows and along the walkway on the south side. The relatively large spans are constructed by combining post-tensioning and the variable geometry of the slabs in the transverse direction.
Thanks to the use of post-tensioning, the project was optimized and the parking lot was put into operation two months before the deadline.
