Sava Brücke
Short description
In the city of Belgrade, the first new bridge in 30 years was the New Sava Bridge as a connection between the city center and New Belgrade.
The project
The cable-stayed bridge crossing the Sava River with a length of 929 m and a considerable carriageway width of 45 m has been the new landmark of the city of Belgrade since its completion in 2012.
The bridge superstructure was built in prestressed concrete in the backspan and sidespan area and in steel construction in the mainspan area. Porr Technobau und Umwelt AG was responsible for the backspan and pylon in the construction consortium and commissioned BBV Systems with the prestressing work on the superstructure as well as the prestressing and bracing of four temporary auxiliary supports.
The superstructure was constructed as a three-cell box girder using the incremental launching method and was post-tensioned both lengthways and crossways. It has ten lanes, six of which are for vehicles, two for subways and two for pedestrians and cyclists.
