Sheraton Park

Short description

BBV Systems Co. Ltd. supplied anti-buoyancy anchors in the form of mini piles for the Sheraton Park project in Doha.

The project

Due to the high groundwater horizons, the foundation slabs for the overlapping bored pile wall had to be secured against uplift. For this purpose, heavyweight foundations are usually put out to tender in Doha. However, BBV Systems was able to convince with an economically more favorable and technically superior method: Mini piles were used for the first time in a pilot project.

The client asked for the planning and execution for a service life of 100 years. For example, the foundation engineering company had to provide a complete seal between the foundation base and the foundation slab, including around the pile shafts. Decisive for the award were coherent procedural instructions and concepts for quality assurance.

In this context, BBV Systems had relocated a production hall (field factory) to Doha. This was where the components supplied from Thailand were assembled and the 3,357 mini piles were grouted.

A two-storey underground car park was created with an underground subway depot and electrical switching station and a landscaped park above ground.

The work was completed in spring 2013.
