Verkehrsknoten Spillepengen

Short description

The 370 meter long bridge was concreted in three sections and post-tensioned by BBV Systems with internal tendons BBV L9 and BBV L19.

The project

On the south-west coast of Sweden, in Malmö, the Spillepengen intersection is on the connection Malmö Nordhafen - Malmö center. Since the opening of the North Harbor in 2011, the traffic situation has deteriorated significantly. Today, Spillepengen is one of the busiest transport hubs in the region with around 40,000 vehicles every day.
 

To ease the traffic situation and increase safety, the intersection was rebuilt and supplemented by a bridge structure (“flyover”).
 

The 370 meter long flyover was concreted in 3 sections and post-tensioned by BBV Systems with internal tendons BBV L9 and BBV L19.
 

The BBV L9 tendons, which run over several sections, were prefabricated by BBV Systems and delivered to the construction site on drums. The use of BBV prefabricated tendons brought several advantages to the project. It made it possible to install the tendons quickly and easily and, at the same time, to dispense with additional tendon couplings.
 

Construction work began in October 2014 and was completed in September 2015.
