Tunnel X-FEL
Short description
The European XFEL is a 3.4 km long facility with which extremely high-energy laser light can be generated.
The project
The European XFEL is a new X-ray laser research facility that is being implemented as a European project at DESY (German Electron Synchrotron). The acronym XFEL stands for X-Ray Free-Electron Laser. The European XFEL is a 3.4 km long facility with which extremely high-energy laser light can be generated. Tunnels lead from the DESY site in Hamburg to underground experimental halls.
The highest settlement requirements for the foundations of the experimental halls required, among other things, the use of approx. 30,000 m BBV injection piles.
