Zuidelijke Ringweg, Groningen
Short description
The southern bypass of the Dutch city of Groningen is about twelve kilometers long. The contract for the expansion of the southern ring road was awarded to the consortium Combinatie Herepoort.
The project
In some areas, the bypass road will be "lowered" and will run in a tunnel using a top-down construction. The tunnel is built under the protection of a trough excavation.
The securing of the sheet pile shoring was planned and implemented with double and triple staggered, semi-permanent strand anchors from the BBV-multibond® system.
Since almost all the multi-strand anchors have to be dismantled, the extraordinary load-bearing capacity and functionality of the following dismountable BBV strand anchor systems was demonstrated in a large-scale test in advance of the construction project:
- BBV semiperm, removable PR
- BBV semiperm, removable CR
- BBV-multibond® semiperm, (2-bond) removable PR
- BBV-multibond® semiperm, (2-bond) removable CR
- BBV-multibond® semiperm, (3-bond) removable PR
- BBV-multibond® semiperm, (3-bond) removable CR
For the 3-way staggered multi-strand anchor system BBV-multibond® CR (3-bond) semi-permanent, L-19 (150mm², 1660/1860), a load-bearing capacity of 3,200 kN was proven in fine and medium sand. All support members (strands) of the anchor system were removed again over their entire length!
